Soorya Carpet Industries, established in 1974, is based in Kathmandu, Nepal. We manufacture and export fine quality hand-knotted Nepalese Carpets. All our carpets are handmade by skilled weavers using traditional hand looms. Our carpet weaving facilities are located in Thapathali, Kathmandu and in Halhalle, a village about 130 kilometers north east of Kathmandu. The production capacity in both these facilities is 2,500 square meters a month. Our facility in Thapathali also houses carpet cutting, stretching, finishing and warehousing facilities. Our environment-friendly carpet washing and wool dyeing plant is located in Kakani, just outside the city of Kathmandu.
Soorya Carpet Industries is one of the very few companies in Nepal that has been authorized to use the Oeko-Tex Mark. Our carpets have been tested by the Swiss Textile Testing Institute and have been determined to be free of any harmful chemicals. Our carpets meet the human-ecological requirements of the globally established standards. To learn more about Oeko-Tex Mark, please click on this link >>Oeko-Tex Mark<<
Soorya Carpet Industries was the first carpet manufacturer to receive the Nepal Standard Certification Mark. This recognition is awarded by the Government of Nepal to companies that meet the Nepalese government's quality standards.
We are also the only organization in Nepal to receive the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Award for promoting productivity in the Nepalese carpet industry by training and educating our employees, fostering development programmes to enrich the lives of our employees, and developing production processes designed to improve quality of life and environment. The Asian Productivity Organization, based in Tokyo, Japan, was created in 1961 to oversee productivity development throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Today, the APO serves as the umbrella organization to coordinate and assist their individual productivity activities. These countries, through their respective National Productivity Organizations, work closely together for mutual cooperation, economic progress, and a better quality of life for their peoples.
